Spiral Staircase Fabrication in Michigan: Custom Steel Designs by HotFab Welding
A spiral staircase is one of the most visually striking elements you can add to a home or commercial space. Unlike standard straight-run stairs, a spiral staircase becomes a focal point of the room — drawing the eye upward and creating a sense of architectural sophistication. At HotFab Welding in Warren, Michigan, we custom fabricate spiral staircases in steel, stainless steel, and aluminum for clients throughout Metro Detroit.
Every spiral staircase we build starts with a detailed consultation. We take precise measurements of your floor-to-floor height, the available footprint diameter, and the direction of rotation. We also discuss tread style (solid plate, open grating, or wood-topped), railing design, and finish preferences. All of this goes into a custom drawing before a single piece of metal is cut.
The center column is the structural heart of a spiral staircase. We weld it to exacting specifications and test for plumb before the treads are attached. Each tread is welded at the correct angle and pitch to meet Michigan building codes, which require a minimum tread depth of 7.5 inches at the walking line and a maximum riser height of 9.5 inches for spiral stairs.
Once fabricated at our shop at 13118 E 9 Mile Rd, Warren, MI, the staircase is dry-fitted, inspected, disassembled, finished (primed, painted, powder coated, or left as brushed metal), and then delivered and installed at your location. Installation typically takes one day for a standard residential spiral with one floor of rise.
Spiral staircases from HotFab Welding serve homes, lofts, offices, restaurants, and industrial facilities across Michigan. Whether you want a sleek modern design in brushed stainless or a dramatic ornamental steel piece with custom railings, we can build it. Call (248) 259-9956 to schedule a free consultation.
