Metal Storm Shields and Flood Protection Barriers for Michigan Properties

Michigan's weather is increasingly unpredictable. Heavy rainstorms, basement flooding, and high winds cause thousands of dollars in damage to homes and businesses across Metro Detroit every year. One of HotFab Welding's specialty services is fabricating custom metal storm shields and flood protection barriers for residential and commercial properties in Warren, Michigan and the surrounding area.

Storm shields are reinforced steel panels that mount over vulnerable openings — basement window wells, crawlspace vents, garage doors, and glass storefronts — to prevent wind-driven debris from penetrating the building envelope during severe weather events. We custom-fabricate each shield to fit the exact dimensions of your opening, with mounting hardware engineered for rapid deployment and secure attachment.

Flood barriers serve a different but related purpose. They are designed to block water at door thresholds, loading dock openings, stairwell entries, and utility penetrations. Our flood barriers use a combination of steel frames and watertight seal systems to hold back several inches of water intrusion. They are removable for normal daily use and deployable quickly when a storm warning is issued.

We have installed storm protection systems for commercial warehouses along Metro Detroit's industrial corridors, restaurants and retail spaces with large glass frontages, residential basements prone to flooding in Macomb and Wayne counties, and utility rooms and mechanical spaces requiring flood isolation.

Every storm shield and flood barrier we build is fabricated from heavy-gauge steel, properly coated for corrosion resistance, and tested for fit before delivery. If your property has experienced storm or flood damage, or if you want to be prepared before the next severe weather season, call HotFab Welding at (248) 259-9956 to schedule a site assessment.
